To promote and support the development of capabilities in and the modernization of agricultural health and food safety (AHFS) service in an effort to improve the sanitary and phytosanitary status of member countries and thus enable them to compete more successfully in agrifood trade.

Areas of Concentration will focus on:

• the modernization of public AHFS services;
• the development of capabilities for the implementation and administration of sanitary and phytosanitary measures (SPS);
• emerging and emergency issues; and
• food safety
